Ram & Dodge transmission repair & rebuild.

Ram 1500, 2500, 3500. Dodge Challenger, Charger. 68RFE, 45RFE, 5R55W.

Make-specific rebuild

Every Ram and Dodge I've had on the bench.

6.7 Cummins Rams with the 68RFE are my most common diesel build. Hemi-powered 1500s on the 8HP70 come in for upgraded clutches when owners start tuning. Older 5.9 trucks on the 47RE and 48RE are still out there and still rebuildable.

Customers keep writing reviews about how their 68RFE rebuild came in way under what the Ram dealer quoted. Same parts. Same warranty. I quote 2 weeks to cover parts delays, but most diesels are back in your hands in 4 to 6 days.

Ram / Dodge ranges.

45RFE / 545RFE: $3,800-$4,200. 68RFE: $4,500-$6,000 depending on tune. 8HP70: $3,800-$4,200.

What Ram / Dodge owners ask me

Before you call.

My 68RFE is limping. What is it?

Most commonly the input clutch drum cracked or the pressure solenoid wore. Both are known failures. Rebuild with billet parts and you're looking at 200K+ mile life.

Can I tune my Hemi and keep the 8HP70?

Yes, up to a point. The 8HP70 is strong, but the factory TCC gives up around 650 lb-ft. Past that, you need upgraded clutches and a proper re-learn. Tell me the tune before the build.

Do you rebuild the older 47RE / 48RE?

Yes. 4-speed 12-valve and 24-valve Cummins trucks still come in. Great rebuildable cores. I keep the band and clutch kits on the shelf.
